If you suspect your home may need a waterproofing system, there are several key signs that help determine so. The following are some common problems in basements resulting in a need for a waterproofing/draintile system:

wp main

  • Leaks - Anytime you find an active leak in your basement, you need to call as soon as practical. Even small leaks can turn into big moisture problems if they are not repaired.
  • Cracked Walls or Floors - Cracked walls or floors are the best entry point for water to get inside your basement. They also may be a sign of a much larger structural problem caused by hydrostatic pressure and other variables.
  • Standing Water - Any time there is standing water there is a problem with excess moisture. If you find puddles or flooding on your basement floor, you need to call as soon as practical.
  • Condensation On Windows - Condensation on your window panes may be a sign of excess moisture build-up in your basement. It is also a sign there may be a leak around windows.
  • Water Stains - Even if they are dry, water stains are a sign that your basement has a leak somewhere.
  • Musty Smell - If your basement has a musty or damp smell, especially after inclement weather, it’s usually a good indicator of a moisture problem.
  • Bowed Walls - Bowed walls are a major structural issue caused by too much hydrostatic water pressure, among other things. If your basement walls are bowing, you need to call as soon as practical; structural integrity has been compromised.
  • Water Marks on Walls - If you see stains from water that ran down basement walls, water has entered the basement over the top of the foundation or through a window or pipe perforation within the foundation wall.
